David R. Josephs

Dave has been practicing intellectual property law for over 20 years and has been selected by “Super Lawyers” for Intellectual Property in Rhode Island every year since 2008. Before private practice, Dave was a patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office examining patent applications in the field of semiconductor devices. His current law practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution with experience in managing intellectual property portfolios of all sizes. With a background of Electrical Engineering and experience as a patent examiner, Dave is well equipped to handle all areas of technology to assist clients in protecting their inventions. He has extensive knowledge in a wide range of technical fields, such as aircraft turbine engines, computer software and hardware, eyewear and thermal management solutions. Dave has extensive experience in helping clients evaluate the patents of competitors to provide freedom to operate and design around analysis and opinions to avoid infringement. Also, a significant portion of Dave’s practice is focused on evaluating and clearing clients’ trademarks, protecting them both domestically and throughout the world, and maintaining and managing their brand portfolios.
